Attorney Walter C. Bansley III,
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he was the actual military lawyer
portrayed by actor Tom Cruise in the popular movie, A Few Good Men. Walt entered private practice in 1992
after a 20 year career as a ground officer and Marine Corps Judge Advocate (JAG). During his years in the Marine
Corps, Walt Bansley served as:
At the time of his retirement from the Marine Corps, Walt had more trial experience than any other military lawyer at the time. Walt has an L.L.M in criminal law from the University of San Diego and is certified as a Trial Advocacy Instructor by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. While in the Marine Corps, Walt either prosecuted or defended approximately a hundred contested jury cases. Walt has tried criminal cases on ships off the coast of Chile, Israel, France, Italy, Brazil, Barbados, Antigua. More recently, although retired, Walt received an acquittal for a Marine he defended on trial in Iraq's combat zone. Attorney Walter C. Bansley IV
Earned his bachelor's degree, cum laude, from Boston University in 1997. Upon graduation, Walt was commissioned
an officer in the United States Marine Corps where he deployed around the world, including a six-month deployment
to the Persian Gulf. Following his Marine Corps service, Walt attended Quinnipiac University's School of Law.
Not only did Walt graduate magna cum laude and in the top 15% of his class, he distinguished himself by receiving
numerous awards for oral and written advocacy and won both moot court and mock trial competitions. Following
graduation from law school, Walt joined his father at Bansley Law Offices, LLC.
Walt is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, Vermont, United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. |
